Have you seen HGTV’s Urban Oasis 2014 in Atlanta? They’re giving it away and there’s not much time left to enter (the deadline is October 10). Take a look and tell us what you’d do with this luxury high-rise residence if you won it…
According to HGTV, “The approximately 2,000-square-foot residence is located on the 37th level of The Residences at Mandarin Oriental, Atlanta, a haven of luxury living in the heart of Buckhead. The fully furnished HGTV Urban Oasis 2014 features two bedrooms and 2-1/2 baths, and floor-to-ceiling windows bathe the unit in light.”
The main living spaces are all pretty neutral. What stands out the most to me are the brass light fixtures and big windows.
If I won, I’d have to do something with the TV. That wall needs a little more oomph. Maybe paint that inset area around the mantel a dark color or something? What do you think?
I was hoping to be a little more surprised by the interiors. For the most part, it’s what I’d expect a condo like this to look like. I’d want to mix it up a bit. Add some color, for sure.
I’m not a fan of glass table tops. I had one once and it was hard to keep that thing looking smudge-free. Not very kid friendly with the sharp edges, either. My mom used to wedge chunks that she cut out of those swimming pool “noodles” onto the corners of her table whenever the grandkids came to visit.
This pull-out drawer for tall utensils like spatulas would come in handy. All of mine are stashed willy-nilly in a drawer…
There’s a big pantry hidden behind one of the panels in the kitchen (you can see it in the video tour below). Very cool.
The powder room:
Unlike the rest of the apartment, which is fairly neutral, the master bedroom is dark purple/plum:
There’s a mini kitchen in the bedroom, which I’m afraid would encourage a little too much late-night snacking on my part…ha.
The adjoining master bath and (huge) walk-in closet are gray:
The sinks have an unusual hexagonal shape:
The closet seems to have some of the best views, so I’d add some color to the room (not a gray girl, myself) and a comfy chair. Looks like a great reading spot to me!
The pretend owners of this condo wear a lot of white.
You can enter twice per day online until October 10. The prize package also includes a 2015 Acura TLX.
What do you think of the Urban Oasis? Would you want to live (or vacation) here? Is there anything you’d change if you did? For more photos (by Keri Sanders) and information, visit HGTV.com or take this 90-second video tour:
