More student housing on the way for Townhead

the nine storey scheme will incorporate ground floor commercial uses on the site of a former printworks, tapping into the wider redevelopment of the area including 441 student flats to the immediate south and a campus expansion for Glasgow Caledonian University. Cooper Cromar Architects have gone back to the drawing board on their 2008 proposals for new student housing at 35-47 Kyle Street, Glasgow, beefing up their plans for the fringe site to include 296 rooms and 480 sq/m of ground floor retail and 562sq/m of business space. The ideas of rhythm, order, modules and reveals were then introduced across the form of the building with consideration of the materials component sizes and construction requirements.” Replica stone cladding panels will be used along the primary Kyle Street elevation with grey/brown facing brick and zinc used for secondary elevations, which will frame a first floor amenity deck fronting Stafford Street.
