James, who is impossibly even more delightful than Sober Sookie St. Planes, Trains and Automobiles
I feel like this movie would probably stress me out if I watched it now, but Steve Martin cannot be denied. Complete with the excitement, frustration, and heartbreak we’ve all experienced in our own home kitchens. If you’re going to score chestnuts, top-n-tail green beans, iron your table linens, polish the silver, or just spend a low-key holiday at home, you’re going to need some entertainment. Stressed-Out Sookie is just as good as the previously mentioned iterations. Here are 12 Thanksgiving shows and movies that you can watch right now… Big Night
Not Thanksgiving related at all, but I couldn’t resist including it here: the whole movie is about cooking one meal! All of these are currently streaming on Netflix, but this is not a Netflix promotion in any way. If you don’t have a membership, sign up for a free month, set a calendar alert, and cancel at the end of the month. James. Freebird
I haven’t seen this yet but anything involving Amy Poehler, Woody Harrelson, and Owen Wilson is fine by me. How I Met Your Mother, S3E9, «Slapsgiving»
Perfect for disgruntled hostesses, punsters, and superfans of Jason Segels vocal stylings. Arrested Development, S2E4, «Sad Sack»
Not really a holiday episode, but it does feature a «Memories of Thanksgiving» basket delivered by Steve Holt. How I Met Your Mother, S5E9, «Slapsgiving 2: Return Of The Slap»
If you love Chris Elliot, this Bud’s for you. Gossip Girl, S3E11, «The Treasure of Serena Madre»
It’s been awhile since I’ve seen this episode but I’m pretty sure it involved love triangles and quadrangles, names like «Tripp Vanderbilt», «what even is Brooklyn?!», ridiculously short skirts, and the magnificent Gina Torres (of Firefly fame) as Vanessa From Brooklyn’s mother. «I don’t remember what these two were but they were served on the rocks with salt [kick]!»
Gilmore Girls, S2E10, «The Bracebridge Dinner»
Not explicitly a Thanksgiving episode, but it does involve Lorelai and Sookie inviting «everyone we know, everyone we like» to the inn for an insane feast.
