Luckily there are plenty of outlets for affordable art these days and one of them may be in your own closet. That wrapping paper you drag out 10 minutes before your friend’s birthday party—take a second look—perhaps it’s beautiful enough to frame.
Wrapping or decorative papers can be a wonderful stand-in for art prints, especially if you’re on a budget. These examples show you a variety of ways to use them and will hopefully spark some ideas for how you might use them in your home. I’ve also included some links to online sources, although starting at a nice stationery or gift shop in your neighborhood is a great way to see colors and prints in person.

In my own home I cut wrapping paper (Mountain Range by Norman’s Printery) to fit RIBBA frames and hung the group as a temporary solution for an empty wall. It’s been six months and I like it well enough that I haven’t replaced it yet.
