When I’m looking through the real estate listings and see a great old house like this with lots of potential, I can’t help but hope that someone with the necessary resources and skills will come along and “rescue” it. Take a look at this 100-year-old home in Virginia and tell us how you would fix it up if you had the chance…
It was built in 1912 and has never been on the market before. The listing calls it a Craftsman, and it does have a lot of great woodwork, but I’m not sure I’d classify it that way. How would you describe it?
Right off the bat I’m itching to get my hands on that porch floor and clean it up!
The listing says, “From the original woodwork and high ceilings to the original pine flooring and spacious rooms, this home is overwhelmingly unique. Includes 4BR/2.5BA, wide front and back porches, spacious back yard with privacy and separate garage. Great chance to restore a beautiful home.”
Original wood pocket doors like these get me every time…
Looks like some of the original woodwork and brick has been painted over, but most of it in the house remains intact.

The kitchen looks very vintage.
I’d ask if they could leave those great old tole trays with the house:
Looks like the light fixture in the dining room is original:
The big front and back porches would be major selling points for me.
