Related story: One World Trade Center welcomes first occupantsMany of the new additions are being built along the so-called Billionaire’s Row on West 57th Street, from the skinny 411-metre tower by SHoP Architects to Christian de Portzamparc’s 306-metre One57 and the 539-metre Nordstrom Tower by Adrian Smith and Gordon Gill. Other additions include 220 Central Park South and 520 Park Avenue by Robert AM Stern, 425 Park Avenue and 50 UN Plaza Foster + Partners, 1 Vanderbilt by Kohn Pedersen Fox, 520 West 41st Street by Oppenheim Architecture and 36 Central Park South by Spivak Architecture. The images were created by visualisation studio CityRealty to show how Jean Nouvel’s proposed 320-metre skyscraper at 53 West 53rd Street – now under construction – will sit amongst the numerous other towers underway along the south-west of Central Park. The images also show 432 Park Avenue by Rafael Viñoly, which will soon become New York’s tallest residential tower, as well as Fosters’ new tower for 610 Lexington Avenue, the recently completed One World Trade Center by SOM and the first of the 16 towers proposed at Hudsons Yards.
