“The finished product possesses a blend of modern construction techniques which are sympathetic to the character of the site and we are proud to have preserved the existing layout and create a unique facility to welcome the students.” | Send to friend

Edinburgh University has lifted the wraps from its latest student housing build, a conversion and extension of the historic Deaconess House to form 318 flats. Neil McFarlane, regional director at Graham, said: “Deaconess House posed an interesting construction challenge as we aimed to integrate the old with the new, to create something which will complement the surrounding buildings in this historic quarter of Edinburgh. Built by Graham Construction to designs by the Kalyvides Partnership the scheme sees three new build blocks form a courtyard to the rear of the existing property, offering a mix of studio flats and 3, 5 and 6 bedroom units.
