The second use of the term site plan is by landscape architects, architects, and engineers to describe the scaled drawing that shows the proposed landscape design or layout of a site. The preliminary design and master plan discussed throughout this book are both site plans. As used by developers and building contrac­tors, site plan refers to a drawing that shows the proposed location of a new house within the lot with dimensions and setbacks from the property lines (Figure 6—11).
