ISG feel just capital after securing Edinburgh hat trick

Construction firm ISG has been appointed to deliver three separate Edinburgh schemes with a combined value of over £11m.

ISG will take the reins of a £6.6m conversion of Elliott House on behalf of developer McLaren and 3DReid Architects to transform the former office block into 134 student rooms, including a full internal refurbishment and the application of new exterior cladding.

Located on the corner of Hillside Crescent and Brunswick Street the scheme will entail an additional four studio apartments will be built in a new build block to the rear of the property with completion timetabled for summer 2015.

Elsewhere the contractor will also oversee a £3.1m LDN designed refurbishment of the University of Edinburgh’s Ashworth campus to provide new office and laboratory space by summer 2016. It will also take the lead on a £1.4m extension to Edinburgh Academy designed by Richard Murphy Architects.

Andy McLinden, ISG’s Scotland regional managing director, commented: “All of these latest projects are welcome additions to our broad education sector expertise, whether creating safe and secure student accommodation or delivering high-specification teaching or sporting infrastructure.”
